Messaging apps are the primary landscape of modern relationships, yet the emotional tone, interaction patterns, and underlying dynamics of our chats remain buried in endless text logs. ChatCheck is an AI-driven mobile application designed to bridge this gap. By securely importing WhatsApp chat histories, the app uses machine learning to break down communication habits into visual, easy-to-understand metrics—empowering users with objective insights into their personal and professional relationships.

The Challenge

Data Overload vs. Cognitive Simplicity Raw chat histories contain hundreds of thousands of messages. The primary UX challenge was transforming complex conversational data—such as sentiment trends, response latency, and word frequency—into a clean, minimalist dashboard that doesn't overwhelm the user. Additionally, the onboarding process needed to establish absolute trust and security regarding data privacy while guiding users seamlessly through the technical step of exporting their WhatsApp chats.

The Solution & Design Strategy

Warm Minimalism Meets Analytical Depth Built upon a structured design system using a warm minimalist visual approach, ChatCheck reduces cognitive load by presenting data through progressive disclosure. Users are greeted with digestible, high-level interaction scores upon first glance, with the ability to drill down into granular behavioral metrics. The interface utilizes high-contrast data visualization cards that adapt flawlessly to both Light and Dark modes.

Frictionless WhatsApp Import & Onboarding

Designed a step-by-step, visual walkthrough that simplifies the iOS and Android chat export process. To alleviate privacy concerns, the UI explicitly highlights local data processing and encryption protocols using reassuring micro-copy and iconography.

Metric-Based Analytical Dashboard

Sentiment & Vibe Score: Visual gauges indicating the overall emotional tone (positive, neutral, empathetic, or tense). Comparative charts showing message volume, average response times, and initiation frequency between participants. Clean graphical highlights of most-used phrases and emotional expressions.

Analysis Ledger & Pattern Tracking

To encourage user retention, past analyses are archived in an organized, chronological ledger. Users can track how a relationship’s communication dynamics evolve over time, compare different timeframes, or revisit historical milestones with a single tap.

Premium Feature: Deep-Dive AI Assistant

For premium tiers, ChatCheck transitions from static data visualization to an interactive conversational experience. Users can query their chat data directly using natural language (e.g., "When were we most active this month?" or "Summarize the tone of our conversations last week"). I designed a sleek, distraction-free chat interface with custom prompt suggestions to guide users toward meaningful discoveries.
